Our International Saturday School offers a highly unique learning environment where students are deeply immersed in a natural all English school setting each Saturday. With a focus on Language Arts and Social Studies, STEAM (including math), ICT, and Minecraft Education, students explore culture, current events, teamwork, and critical thinking. Each Saturday, students get hands-on experience, from discussing and debating big ideas to tackling challenges in math, science, coding and design. We have a growing English library and encourage students to borrow English books each week and to keep a special journal to chronicle their reading adventures! Students will also have a chance to go on annual field trips, participate in community events and experience environmental and social activism. In this small, close-knit class, everyone gets individual attention to grow their skills, build confidence, and have fun learning in English together!
A note from the Director,
I originally created this program to fill a missing gap in my own daughter’s education. As third-culture kids, they are being educated primarily in a culture/language that neither of their parents are fluent in. They are very happy attending Japanese schools and have become fluent in Japanese but it is essential that they have a weekly day of education in English that mimics a day spent in an English international school setting and allows them to interact with other English speakers like themselves.
It was also very important to me for them to learn about activism, environmentalism and their responsibility as global citizens. This once a week program allows them a whole school day to think, feel, listen, speak and write in English and will help them become the international world citizens of tomorrow.
